4 Iranian wrestlers to fight for gold at Yasar Dogu tourney

TEHRAN, Jul. 28 (MNA) – The Iranian free-style outfit attending the Yasar Dogu Free-Style Wrestling International Tournament is hopeful for 5 medals with 4 representatives in final and 1 in the third place playoff.

In the first round of the competitions for the second weight groups of wrestling at Yasar Dogu Free-Style Wrestling International Tournament hosted by Istanbul of Turkey on Saturday, four Iranian wrestlers won the ticket to the final fixtures and one is slated to wrestle for bronze.

In the 61 kilogram weight division, Mohammad Bagher Yakhkeshi from Iran defeated his rivals and is expected to wrestle with an Indian opponent for gold in the final match.

Yones Emami, the representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the 70kg weight category fell to Bajrang from India at the semi-final and is now hoping for the bronze medal of the class.

In the 92kg weight division, both Iranian representatives made their path to the final bout and the last match of the category will be held between Alireza Karimi and Mohammad Javad Ebrahimi.

Yadollah Mohebi, the Iranian wrestler in the 125 kilogram weight division, also defeated his rivals and won his place at the final event of the 125 weight class. Mohebi claimed an 11-0 win over Ungor Ramazan from Turkey in his first match and then defeated Danylo Kartavyi from Ukraine before beating Turkey’s Huseyin Civelek in the semi-final.

The final matches of these categories will be held on Sunday at noon local time.
